within a quarter and on top of that, the competition is very intense and
the optical drive is now very much a commodity product.

All eyes on optical market
LG Electronics is not only the dominant vendor in the Canadian optical
drive market, it's also the preferred vendor, beating out second-place
Pioneer, Sony, Samtack and BenQ in the latest ChannelLine Champs survey. |
Optical market going ballistic
Vendor expectations are high for the Canadian optical CD/DVD drive market,
but competition is making this a commodity market, with one segment, DVDRs,
predicted to experience severe pricing pressure over the next six months.
Vendors clamour for channel support
New technologies, new products and intense competition make Canada's
surging optical drive market a challenging one for the channel, but vendors
say there's a lot of money to be made on both the drives and the media.
